"An inborn love of the horse is instinctive, quite unreasoning, and one cannot recall any beginning of what seems to have always been there, together with a craving for perfection in the object of interest."-Lady Ann BluntAnnesilnefous Ezzain, like Yasoob Ezzain, was sired by NK Qaswarah, making both colts, half-brothers. While Yasoob's dam is NK Nada; Annesilnefous Ezzain is out of the mare NK Momtaza, a daughter of Ibn Nedjy who traces in his tail female line to the Ghazal daughter, Ghazala, as does NK Qaswarah. So, the southern influence inherent in a classic stallion like the Bukra son, Ghazal, is extremely concentrated in the pedigree of Annesilnefous Ezzain and we see the proof of this southern influence, physically manifested in this very elegant colt. The dam of NK Momtaza is rather interesting, as she brings in the bloodlines of some really spectacular horses, as well as tracing in her tail female line to one of the most elegant horses who ever lived, Moniet el Nefous. Sanaya, the dam of NK Momtaza is sired by Kais, the Bint Om el Saad son who sired the mare *Ikaria out of Ikbal (an Adaweya daughter). Sanaya is out of Malaka, an Ansata Halim Shah daughter out of the wonderful mare, Kis Mahiba. You will remember that the Ansata Sinan son, Shamekh Al Shaqab, was also a son of Malaka. I am fascinated by the production record of the Ibn Galal daughter, Kis Mahiba, as she was a brilliant broodmare, producing high quality daughters like Maysouna, KEN Bint Bint Mahiba, KEN Malaka, KEN Muniba, Hallah, Mana and Maha. Understanding the influence of Alaa el Din through his daughters, I see Alaa el Din through the progeny of his daughter, Mahiba.
"To me if an outcross individual proves to be prepotent for good qualities in its first generation, it seems a good sign of an influential ancestor who will stand up well in the line breeding for generations."-Joe FerrissI think it is important to emphasize all of these pedigree details, as one can understand better, how these individual horses, like Alaa el Din and Moniet el Nefous, who were celebrated for their refinement and elegance, when combined, resulted in a horse far superior to them, reaching a new level of refinement that we have not seen previously.
Which brings us back to Annesilnefous Ezzain, who in terms of both refinement and elegance, brings his sire's qualities to a much higher level. When Usamah Alkazemi, the colt's breeder and owner, shared pictures with me of Annesilnefous Ezzain; my eye was drawn to the extraordinary fine details present in this colt. His skin has that translucence, that very thin quality which accentuates the tear bones and vein structure of the face. This feature of the skin is loyal to the desert, a direct result of life lived within a harsh environment. Nature is a skilled artist, in her wisdom, which no man or woman can rival. His muzzle is fine, not meaty or thick and his nostrils are huge and elastic. His eye is large, round and luminous and if I were to walk behind this horse, to look at him, I know that his eyes would be protruding, when viewed from the rear. His jowl is big, like a dinner plate and I know that my fist would fit comfortably between both of them. His sire has a most wonderful mitbah, with a clean underline to his neck and already, I see these qualities in this colt. Like most horses of the NK Hafid Jamil sire line, I feel these horses tend to mature a bit more slowly than other Egyptian Arabian Horses, so, I find it amazing that in a young colt, we can already see the elegant features expressed in the head, that you would expect to see in a much older horse. I can only imagine how excellent this stallion's head will become, when he reaches ten years of age. He will be exquisite.
"...in terms of correctness, conformation and harmony, there is no comparison, at least this is my humble judgement."-Usamah AlkazemiSo, within the last couple of days, I have written about two very nice colts. Which would you choose? Yasoob or Annesilnefous? Both colts are sired by NK Qaswarah, who for me personally, remains the standard for ultimate refinement and yet, both colts are different, thanks to the contribution of their beautiful dams. It is an exciting time at Ezzain Arabians for Usamah Alkazemi, as the wisdom of his breeding decisions, that is, to concentrate within a few selected bloodlines, appears to be producing in the type of horse that we believed previously to exist only in our dreams. We never thought it was possible, that horses could be bred to exhibit the level of type that the horses of Ezzain Arabians produce consistently. I only wish that in America, we would be blessed to have such choices.
EnJoy your horses,
Ralph
PS I must give credit to Jennifer Ogden, who somehow managed to capture the true beauty and grace of this marvelous colt on film. Many thanks to Usamah and to Jenni for the use of these pictures.
