Farida
Farida (Saklawi II x Nadra El Saghira) was bred by Prince Mohamed Aly
Tewfik and was purchased by the RAS, shortly after she was born, in
1921. Farida was the great-granddaughter of the Ali Pasha Sherif mare,
El Dahma. If there is such a thing as a "favorite" in what really is a
"sea of favorites", then Farida would be the one. To this day, one can
see her curvey influence in the body of modern horses who carry her
influence. She produced the stallion Balance by Ibn Samhan (Balance is
the sire of Zaafarana), Bint Farida by Mansour (Bint Farida is the dam
of Helwa, who produced Abla), Ragia by Ibn Rabdan (Ragia is the dam of
Halima, who produced *Ansata Ibn Halima) and Futna, Farida's daughter by
Shahloul.
