Alfabia Sohar (Salaa El Dine x Taghira B) as photographed by Gigi Grasso |
The Tamria daughter, 28 Farag, when bred to Zohair (Alaa El Din x Zebeda), produced the outstanding broodmare 211 Zohair. Bred to a variety of stallions, 211 Zohair, like Tamria, produced a record number of daughters, who in turn, expanded the family legacy for producing mares of significant influence. When bred to the magnificent chestnut stallion, El Thay Mameluk (Ibn Nazeema x El Thay Mansoura), she produced the fabulous Taghira B. One of the most brilliant movers, Taghira B was owned by Alfabia Stud for most of her life.
When Alfabia bred her to Salaa el Dine (Ansata Halim Shah x Hanan), tripling the influence of the EAO stallion, Alaa El Din, she produced a son, Alfabia Sohar, who was retained by Alfabia Stud for their straight Egyptian breeding program. A 2001 stallion, he is very much his mother's son, with the heavy flea-bitten coat his mother possessed and when he moves, it's as if Taghira B has come back to life, as he possesses the same degree of elasticity and powerful drive in his hocks that his dam had, resulting in movement that is clean, forward, light and supple.
